侯国良，1946年11月生，黑龙江泰来县人，祖籍山东。1968年去北大荒，1979年调入哈尔滨画院。曾任哈尔滨画院院长。中国美术家协会会员，中国美协连环画艺术委员会委员，黑龙江省文联委员，黑龙江省美协副主席，黑龙江省文史研究馆馆员，哈尔滨市文联副主席、市美协主席，曾任哈尔滨画院院长。国家一级美术师。结业于中央美术学院国画系。一九九三年被授予享受国务院特殊津贴优秀专家称号。2002年被省委宣传部评为“德艺双馨文艺家”。

侯国良多次参加全国性大展，作品入选15件，其中获金奖一件，银奖一件，优秀奖五件，中国美术馆收藏两件，浙江省美术馆收藏一件。举办过哈尔滨四人联展、山东，广东多次个人作品展。出版《侯国良作品集》及大量连环画、儿童读物、插图等作品，被评为全国十佳连环画家。
2000年作品《游子》《愿花常好》入选中国美协、工笔画会《迎接新世纪》大展。作品入选1980年全国青年美展，第六、七届、八届全国美展，全国二届体育美展，全国二、四届工笔画大展，1991、1992年全国美展，中国画人物展并获奖。被选入《世界名人录》及多种艺术大典。主要作品有《岁月·回忆·思考》《暴风骤雨》《李兆麟将军》等。

70年代，侯国良醉心于连环画创作。他以国画手段画连环画，使连环画和中国画熔为一炉，相映成趣。
80年代，侯国良的作品大多以北方乡村人物为题材，兼有动物、场景，笔墨精到，巧拙互用，注重表现北方的风土人情，乡土气息浓郁。
90年代，侯国良的思考转向立体空间架构，以民族旧事为窗口，紧紧把握住那个时期人物的丰富造型和形象趣味，并适当地给以夸张的艺术处理。手法上，这个时期的画作采取工笔画技法，表现工细，辅染相应，增强了作品的观赏性。
近年来，侯国良的画作多描绘民国妇女，以寄寓往日的怀旧情感。如《家园》、《天香》、《花期》等，皆属这般心境的作品。在视觉上，更注重醇厚、精微、情趣、气氛的烘托处理。追求精而不滞、厚而不板，变形而不荒诞，最终达到意境美。
