籍忠亮，自由职业艺术家，自由派新文人画家，号“自由笔”。主功水墨人物画，兼长其他。在艺术上主张继承传统功力的基础上突破创新，在极尽随意简练的笔法中，追求深远意境，从而寄托文人情怀，其书画均自成风格。
九十年代享誉粤港台及东南亚，游艺于大陆及东南亚二十年。本世纪客居广东，潜心艺术创作、教育及理论研究。作品倍受东南亚高层政要、皇室贵族以及国内外学者名流、收藏大家所推崇。受到中国大陆党和国家领导人、东南亚各国及地区高层政要的接见，应邀在国内外高等学府讲学数十场。荣获国内外十余项艺术奖项和多种荣誉称号，受聘担任国内外多家高等学府的客座教授和讲师。先后发表了超过二十万字的绘画理论文章。
近年来有多幅作品在社会上产生重大影响，如《历史的握手》、《重托》、《万类霜天竟自由》及《共和之魂》等。2005年，受到时任台湾中国国民党主席连战的邀请及亲率众多国民党要员和元老参加的高规格接待，在台湾国民党中央党部举行的迎接籍忠亮及夫人的仪式和记者招待会盛况空前，一时轰动东南亚。作品先后被中共中央办公厅、中国国家博物馆、北京人民大会堂、美国波士顿博物馆、台湾中国国民党中央党部等永久收藏。2007年客居广东时，被评为“广东省当代十大最具影响力书画名家”称号。被聘任为中央文史研究馆书画院南方分院副院长、中国国际友好联络会理事、广东省人民政府文史研究馆终身馆员、广东省社会科学院特约研究员、客座教授。出版有《籍忠亮作品集》、《籍忠亮诗书画集》、《畅惬以抒怀——籍忠亮水墨作品集》、《当代中国画名家作品选粹——籍忠亮》等专著十余部。

6月18日，在北京人民大会堂台湾厅，举行了隆重的收藏仪式，多家媒体现场追录，人民大会堂领导将籍忠亮所作的一幅长8米，宽1.8米的巨幅国画《竹林七贤图》接收，并向画家籍忠亮颁发收藏证书（收藏编号为第1166号）；
