李宗津（1916.10.24—1977.5.24）祖籍江苏常州，油画家及美术教育家。1916年10月24日出生在苏州。1934年就读于苏州美术专科学校，1937年毕业，师从叔父李毅士、颜文梁、吕斯百等中国第一代油画家。1940年受聘于贵阳私立清华中学任教。1946年至1947年，得徐悲鸿赏识，聘为北平国立艺专讲师，1947年转入清华大学建筑系，历任国立北平艺术专科学校、清华大学建筑系副教授。1952年任中央美术学院油画系教授。后又任教于北京电影学院。艺术语言朴实，作风写实。曾作有油画《东方红》、《强渡泸定桥》、《科学家与老农》、《双喜》等。1980年人民美术出版社出版《李宗津画选》。
李宗津1934年就读于苏州美专。1943年创作《女童》。1946年创作了《北海风情》系列写生作品和《老路肖像》。1947年创作大量表现北京平民生活的写生作品，在此基础上完成《平民食堂》的创作，思想的深刻、朴素真实的描绘使该作成为现实主义艺术的经典之作。1951年创作油画作品《强夺泸定桥》，被中国美术馆收藏。1952年任中央美术学院油画系教授，并创作宣传画《学习苏联先进生产经验》。1954年油画作品《东方红》、《双喜》参加第二届全国美展，作品《春游》、《鞍钢的黎明》发表在《美术》杂志上。1956年10月为纪念鲁迅先生创作油画作品《夜谈》并发表于《美术》杂志上。1957年，参加文化部组织的文化代表团赴尼泊尔访问，归国后创作了大量关于尼泊尔风情人物的油画作品。1972年，创作《毛主席像》、《鲁迅像》。1997年香港大学美术博物馆举办“李宗津画展”。出版画册有：《李宗津画选》、《李宗津作品集》。
李宗津先生是中国早期油画画坛上的代表性人物，生于江苏苏州的书香世家，受到正统文化熏陶，自幼既表现出超凡的艺术天赋，徐悲鸿先生爱惜他的才艺，买下李宗津先生的作品《北海公园》长期挂在院长办公室。然而他后半生道路坎坷，不幸过早离开了人世，使他的艺术长期被埋没，这无疑是中国画坛的损失，在中国绘画走向未来的新时期，我们对李宗津先生的艺术成就应该有一个新的认识与研究。李宗津先生的艺术遵循现实主义的手法，造型慎密传神，色彩绚丽大气，在他的画作中，具有一种特殊的人文书卷气。从《平民食堂》到《勇夺泸定桥》的大型创作，都可深刻感受到李宗津先生极富人文关怀，和锐意进取的艺术个性。无论是大型创作，还是人物、风景，乃至素描，李宗津先生的艺术作品都有激动人心的魅力。特别值得我们注意的是，李宗津先生油画作品的画面上，几乎都没有签名落款。以《中国早期油画大系—李宗津画集》收录的作品为例，全书共收入71幅油画，6幅素描，其中只有3幅早期素描画面有落款。由此我们应该注意到李宗津艺术作品的这一特点。
李宗津的大哥李宗恩(1894-1962)是知名的医学教育家，曾任贵阳医学院第一任院长(1938-1946)和北京协和医学院的第一任中国人院长(1948-1957)。1957年，李宗津，李宗恩弟兄分别成为美术界和卫生界的大右派。
