Interview with Zhao Xinyu, a Young Oil Painter with Romantic and Poetic Charm

Art Vision: What is the greatest impact of the learning experience of art colleges on your artistic creation? Why choose oil painting among so many majors? What attracts you?

Zhao Xinyu: The learning experience of art academies has helped me understand the history of art development more thoroughly and comprehensively, and have determined my own way of painting. As for why I choose oil painting, of course, I like it. The unique charm of oil painting attracts me very much. I am moved by the rigorous shape and gorgeous colors one after another.

Art Vision: When did you begin to engage in realistic painting? What was the opportunity for you to embark on the road of realistic painting?

Zhao Xinyu: I started when I was a sophomore in university. At that time, I remembered that I took a classical oil painting skill course of Mr. Liu Kong-xi. I was deeply attracted by classical oil painting, and later I became fascinated with realistic painting.

Art Vision: You said that you prefer classical realistic oil painting. Which artist has had an important influence on you in history? What kind of influence?

Zhao Xinyu: There are many artists who have had an important influence on me, such as Caravaggio in Italy, Rembrandt in the Netherlands, Vermeer, Bugro in France and so on. First of all, they all have mature artistic language and exquisite artistic skills. They all have their painting skills and artistic spirit. Important impact.

Art Vision: Do you think it's the trend of art or the change of culture today when realism is flourishing?

Zhao Xinyu: I think it should be the trend of art. In the history of art development, from ancient Greece and Rome to today's contemporary art, there have been many art schools, and every art school has its glorious period, so does realism.

Art Vision: Most of your creative themes are flower girls with snow as the theme. How did you choose this theme? Is there any special reason?

Zhao Xinyu: In my mind, snow represents purity, and the snow I painted is generally far-reaching, very quiet and can not see the boundary. Men and women in adolescence are also the most sensitive during this period. They are passionate, confident and energetic. At the same time, they also have feelings of youth Perishable and confusion about the future. These touching stories are painted with brushes.

Art Vision: By enjoying your works, I feel that every flower girl in your writing is very beautiful. Do you have a standard of beauty or feminine beauty?

Zhao Xinyu: Everyone has his own criteria for beauty. I feel that beauty is important to the beauty of the soul. The most touching thing is the truth, the best and the most beautiful in the heart.

Art Vision: As a young artist facing the multi-media and creative methods of contemporary art, have you ever thought about using other ways of expression?

Zhao Xinyu: No, I prefer realistic expression. I think it can express what I want to say.

Art Vision: As a post-80s generation, how do you define "art youth"? What do you think are your characteristics and advantages?

Zhao Xinyu: I feel that artistic youth should be young people with certain artistic accomplishment, artistic ideal, ambition or artistic professional background, such as literature, painting, music and so on, with the special temperament created by these professional background. I feel that my greatest characteristic is perseverance and perseverance in art. The advantage may be that I am still young.

Art Vision: Will there be some new themes for future creation? Will there be some new exhibition plans in the future?

Zhao Xinyu: Of course, there are new themes. Next, I'm going to draw more works for a solo exhibition.

Artistic China Interview with Young Artist Zhao Xinyu

Interview with Zhao Xinyu

Release date: 06 September 2013

1. What do you usually like to do?

I usually like reading, playing basketball and raising fish besides drawing.

2. Why did you choose this school and this major?

Because I like traditional realistic oil painting, and the Chinese Oil Painting Academy of the Chinese Academy of Art has gathered a lot of famous Chinese realistic painters, so I chose this school and this major.

3. What do you want to do after graduation? Why?

I want to be a professional painter after graduation, because I like painting since I was a child. This dream has been with me for more than ten years. It can be said that painting is the whole of my life. I really don't know what I can do besides painting.

4. Who has the greatest influence on you in the exploration of the artistic road?

The greatest influence on me is Mr. Yang Feiyun, who made me realize that we should face the classics to learn the tradition, be close to nature, and draw works loyal to our hearts.

5. What are we paying attention to now?

present, we are concerned about the vagueness and sensitivity of young people in the process of growing up. I feel that young people are the most picturesque. In life, they are not only confused about the future, but also sad about the perishable youth. At the same time, they are full of spiritual yearning. This contradiction always lingers in their hearts. I am writing with a brush now. Record these moving stories.

6. What do you think you need to explore on your artistic path?

I think in my own artistic path, we still need to learn more about tradition and see more classical Western oil paintings. Without looking back on the past, we can not face the future. If we want to reach a certain height in art, we must do so.
