谢庭芝（公元14世纪）元字仲和，号雪村，江苏昆山人，生卒年不详。工诗、书、画，尤擅墨竹，亦善山水。传世作品有至元五年（1339）作《竹石图》轴。
       《竹石图》绢本，墨笔，173.2cmx105.1cm，现藏于北京故宫博物院。图中绘坡草湖石，石后挺立疏竹数竿，枝叶下垂，似洒雨露。坡上小竹兰草丛生，三株新笋，两株高窜，一株破土而出，春意盎然。湖石连勾带皴，并以淡墨渲染，玲珑剔透，形态奇异。竹叶以率笔挥洒，浓淡相参，水墨淋漓，清新秀雅。此图为谢庭芝墨竹传世孤本。画面以淡墨勾勒画湖石，以砍剁皴和钉头皴相结合画出明暗再以淡墨渲染，使湖石具有质感，达到皱、漏、透、瘦之效果，玲珑剔透，造型奇特。湖石后疏竹玉立，竹叶下垂，浓淡相间，参差错落，疏密有致，颇显情趣，画左款暑：至元五年冬十月，仲和。
