杨昇。唐代画家，723年（玄宗开元十一年）。与张萱，杨宁同时任史馆画直。擅长人物，台阁，尤工写真。尝为玄宗，肃宗画像，论者谓“深得王者气度’。兼善没骨山水，法张僧繇。
       《唐杨昇画山水卷》为唐朝时期的一幅中国古画。该幅 30.3x184.2公分；隔水一 13.1公分；裱绫一 15.3公分；裱绫二 15.3公分；隔水二 13.6公分；拖尾 29.9x42.8公分；隔水三 13.5公分。收藏于台北故宫博物院。

       直接用彩色作画，不用墨笔立骨的技法叫做没骨法。分山水没骨和花鸟没骨两种，最初相传由南朝张僧繇创始，而没骨花鸟传为南唐宋徐崇嗣，实应真正始于清恽寿平。这种画法打破了前代习用的“勾花点叶”法，以彩笔取代墨笔，直接挥抒，从而产生了一种全新的时代风格。这种技法早在公元557年以前就由南朝张僧繇创始，其形式是用青绿重色画的山水画，并染出明暗部分，与西画的形式相似。在敦煌石壁画中，也有这样的画例。其后唐杨升传张僧繇法，擅没骨山水。花鸟画应用没骨法，传始于五代十国的黄荃，所排挤的徐崇嗣在北宋时期创造出新“没骨法”。
       没骨画不同于工笔和写意，没骨的“没”字，即淹没而含蓄之意，其精要在于将运笔和设色有机的融合在一起，不用勾轮廓，不要打底稿，更不能放底样拓描。作画时，要求画者胸有成竹，一气呵成。在书法里把笔锋所过之处称为“骨”，其余部分称为“肉”。没骨画将墨，色，水，笔融于一体，在纸上予以巧妙结合，重在蕴意，依势行笔。
