魏根生，中国美术家协会会员，安徽省中国画学会理事，职业画家。曾任《艺术界》杂志责任编辑，安徽师范大学美术学院、淮北煤炭师范学院美术学院等高等院校客座教授。
主要艺术活动：
1985年，北京中央工艺美术学院，德国著名设计家卡住尔教授讲习班。
1990年，编辑设计《艺术界》杂志获“首届全国期刊展览整体设计奖”。
1990年，《北京周报》用英、日、德、法、西班牙等8种文字专版介绍魏根生剪纸艺术作品。1993年，获“优秀编辑奖”。
1994年，受法国艺术史博士柯孟德邀请，编辑、装帧《中国绘画艺术》。
1994年，参加创作绘画的连环画《绘画本中国通史》获“第六届中国图书奖”一等奖。
2004年，参加德国普法兹州“艺术面对面2004年展”。
2005年，参加第六届全国中国画名家作品巡回展。
2010年，赴巴黎中国美术家协会工作室，进行为期三个月的访问艺术家。
2016年，水墨作品《巴黎印象》入选中国美协主办的吕霞光工作室成立32周年纪念展；出版《资治通鉴》8卷集、《绘画本中国通史》6卷集、《世界名人传记》8卷集、《春秋风云》2卷集、《飞行堡垒九勇士》、《瞎子波西》等20余本连环画；并发表出版数千幅文学作品创作插图；出版《魏根生画集》。
