艾青（1910～1996）原名蒋正涵，号海澄，曾用笔名莪加、克阿、林壁等，浙江省金华人。中国现代诗人。被认为是中国现代诗的代表诗人之一。1910年生于浙江金华，1996年5月5日卒于北京。1928年考进杭州国立西湖艺术院绘画系。翌年赴法国勤工俭学，自学绘画兼习法文，并大量阅读哲学和文学著作。1932年回国，途中写了《那边》等忧国忧民的诗作。同年5月在上海加入中国左翼美术家联盟。7月被国民党当局逮捕入狱，囚徒生活促使他从绘画转到诗歌创作。1935年出狱，曾到常州武进女子师范学校任教半年，继又流浪到上海。1936年自费出版第一本诗集《大堰河》。1937年抗日战争爆发后，从上海到武汉、临汾、西安、桂林等地参加抗日救亡运动。1940年到重庆，任育才学校文学系主任。翌年去延安，被选为陕甘宁边区参议员、延安文艺界抗敌协会理事。
1949年1月，以军代表身分参与接管北平艺术专科学校，同年10月起任《人民文学》杂志副主编。1979年错案平反，同年当选中国作家协会副主席。1980年出版诗集《归来的歌》、《彩色的诗》，1983年又出版《雪莲》。这些作品更为练达圆熟，形象更简洁明确，语言更质朴纯净，除继续保持真实与想象相结合的特色，又增添了深沉的思考和睿智的哲理。其中《光的赞歌》、《鱼化石》、《古罗马的大斗技场》等诗篇影响较大。1991年5卷本《艾青全集》出版。
著作还有论文集《诗论》、《新文艺论集》、《艾青谈诗》、《艾青论创作》，散文集《走向胜利》、《绿洲笔记》，译诗集《原野与城市》，以及《艾青选集》(1～3册)和多种版本《艾青诗选》等。在中国现代新诗发展史上，是继郭沫若、闻一多等人之后推动一代诗风的诗人。
