李智纲，1940年生于河北省威县。1960年入南开大学，1962年转学天津美院，1966年毕业。师承著名画家李鹤筹、孙其峰等。
现任《散文百家》编审，国家一级美术师，中国美术家协会会员，中国画学研究会副会长，中国当代书画研究会名誉会长，河北省美术家协会常务理事，河北省花鸟画研究会副会长.
主功写意花鸟画，兼擅书法、艺术理论、散文创作。其花鸟画作品传统功力深厚，生活气息浓郁，风格独特，个性鲜明，自成一格。1986年，花鸟画作品入选《中日水墨画交流展》。在日本获优秀奖。1990年，六幅花鸟画作品入选《全国第六次新人新作展》。1993年，花鸟画作品入选《北京国际书画博览会》，获优秀奖。
1994年，花鸟画《情系南北》入选《第八届全国美术作品展览》，并获河北省美展一等奖。1990年在北京举办个展，1991年在天津举办个展。1993年为天安门城楼创作大幅花鸟画《万绿丛中一品红》，为天安门城楼珍藏。还多次参加“当代中国花鸟画邀请展”，参加赴英国、日本、美国、东南亚等国展览，被国内外多家博物馆、美术馆、驻外使领馆收藏。
“中央电视台”、“人民日报”、“光明日报”、“文艺报”、“中国文化报”、“中国书画报”、“美术报”、“人民政协报”等中央级报纸和专业美术刊物，《美术》、《美术研究》、《中国画》、《国画家》等，多次发表过他的作品，评价文章。
著有《怎样画木本花卉》，《葡萄画法》，出版有《李智纲画集》，《中国当代书画名家精品系列李智纲专辑》、《中国画家李智纲》散文集《心境》。入选《中国美术选集》、《中国花鸟画百家》等多部合集，入典《中国当代书画家名人大辞典》、《中国当代艺术界名人录》《世界名人录》等多部辞书。荣获《世界华人艺术家》、2000《年中国百杰画家》、《中国当代百名杰出国画家》荣誉称号。
