刘志刚，1957年出生，北京人，自幼爱好绘画，高中毕业后在北京昌平远郊区县插队，回城后从事文物古建筑维修保护工作，三十多年来参加过许多国内外重点文物保护工程，天安门、故宫、劳动人民文化宫、中山公园、景山少年宫、钟鼓楼、北海、颐和园、中南海、钓鱼台国宾馆、北京饭店、雍和宫、白云观、清真寺等。成立海南省期间参加了人民大会堂海南厅的大型壁画绘制工作，并受范增老师的指导，后因工作需要在刚果总统府参加了总统府的绘画工作。
退休后有参加了江西南昌画院的设计，改造工程受到地方政府的好评，四合院改造仿古装修等设计指导工作。
七八十年代随北京画院张仁芝、王文芳老师学习山水画，后师从北京画院知名画家马泉老师系统学习中国画，主画山水。其作品注重传统源于生活，勇于创新，在笔墨表现上追求雄浑厚重，大气磅礴的表现形式，作品应随时代精神不断追求艺术高峰，不断充实自己，并在品格与笔墨之间永远保持自然，实积极向上的精神。
现为中国国典画院职业画家。
