 与画笔为伴
王长兴成长在冀东一个大家庭，尊师重教的家庭环境从未反对小孩子在绘画上的偏好，可以说少年时的他是在笔纸、颜料和刻刀的陪伴下度过着几乎全部的假期和闲暇。不觉中这个不在丝毫强迫下的爱好成为他生活无法分割的部分，画室里老师的几本印刷粗糙的世界名画集，在一个十几岁时对艺术懵懂的少年眼里已经有种特殊的吸引力，直到在美术老师偶然间的谈话中听到了中央美术学院的名字。
缘结中央美院
无知者无畏，走进中央美院的路在一个与画画相守的小孩子的心里，也许只应是坦途。王长兴从没想过画画是可以选择的事情，也就没有想过考入美院有多难，在几乎身边所有人的担心和顾虑中，中央美术学院果然向孤注一掷的王长兴敞开了大门。四年的学院生活，诸多前沿理念、流派和巨作迎面而来，对他影响深刻。本科时期的王长兴不算好学生，他说：“现在想来学院艺术也是有时代主流的，我的东西就不入流，不时尚。已有自己一向的习惯和偏好，当然那时也不成熟”，这种“既不叫座又不叫好”的自持一直延续到现 在。
2004年，全国已掀起考研热，中央美院“准艺术家们”也不能“免俗”，王长兴在经过一次意外地失败后次年才得以成功。这种多少带着“盲目”色彩的深造决定现 在看是值得的，他那种慢热性的自持，似乎在那段研究生时期开始抽芽，“那几年的时光自由、充实，系里的导师、老师甚至是先生们许多是名家大家，给那时我的引导、肯定和帮助太及时，太珍贵，可以一生受用”，其毕业作品《涿鹿之战》和《戊戌之变》已开始构成其在当代艺术背景中特殊的艺术面貌。

2009年，王长兴正式任职于培养和陪伴他十年的中央美院壁画系，在他热爱的壁画艺术事业中留了下来，他一直坚持对大题材作品和公共艺术创作的热情，并专注于对这一方向的探索、研究和教学。

The road to the Central Academy of Fine Arts, fearless of the ignorant, is in the heart of a child who keeps close to painting. Perhaps it should only be a smooth road. Wang Changxing never thought that painting was an optional thing, nor did he think how difficult it was to enter the Academy of Fine Arts. In the worries and concerns of almost everyone around him, the Central Academy of Fine Arts opened its door to Wang Changxing, who was desperate. Four years of College life, many frontier ideas, schools and masterpieces are coming to him, which have a profound impact on him. Wang Changxing was not a good student during his undergraduate course. He said, "Now, if you want to come to the college, art is also the mainstream of the times. My things are not in fashion. Having had their own habits and preferences, of course, it was not mature at that time. This kind of "neither calling nor cheering" self-determination has continued to this day.

In 2004, a nationwide postgraduate entrance examination fever was launched, and the "prospective artists" of the Central Academy of Fine Arts could not be "free from vulgarity". Wang Changxing succeeded the following year after an unexpected failure. This kind of "blind" decision of further education is worthwhile now. His slow-hot self-control seems to have sprouted in the period of postgraduate study. "The years were free and full, and many of the tutors, teachers and even gentlemen in the Department were well-known masters. At that time, I was guided, affirmed and helped too much.
