秦锡麟，1964年毕业于景德镇陶瓷学院美术系，原任景德镇陶瓷学院党委书记、院长，现任景德镇陶瓷学院名誉院长、教授，《中国陶艺》和《陶瓷学报》杂志主编，中国工艺美术大师评审委员会评委、中国陶瓷艺术评审委员会主任委员、中国陶瓷协会副理事长、中国工艺美术学会副理事长、中国美术家协会陶瓷专业委员会委员、江西省文化艺术联合会副主席、景德镇市文化艺术联合会名誉主席、联合国教科文组织国际陶艺学会会员、韩国京畿大学名誉博士、芬兰赫尔辛基设计艺术大学博士生导师等职。

陶瓷泰斗秦锡麟从事陶瓷艺术研究与创作已四十八年之久，技术全面，成绩显著。其陶艺作品新颖、大方、豪放、凝重、独具一帜，具有浓郁的时代感和东方艺术特色。由他开创的现代民间青花艺术，在国内外学术界和陶瓷艺术收藏界产生了非常大的影响。众多专家学者和收藏家给予了极高的评价，“现代民间青花艺术为中国陶瓷艺术开创了一条新路”。他的作品在历届全国性评比中获金奖二项、银奖一项、第一名二项、第二名一项、一等奖五项、二等奖五项、三等奖七项、优胜奖九项。他的作品还多次选送到日本、美国、加拿大、法国、比利时、意大利、澳大利亚、巴西、韩国、新加坡、印度尼西亚、马来西亚、香港、澳门、台湾等国家和地区举办个展和联展，在国外单件作品售价创国内同行最高纪录。现有六十多件作品被大英博物馆、中国故宫博物院、中国历史博物馆、中国工艺美术馆珍宝馆等国内外博物馆、美术馆、工艺美术馆收藏；并有不少作品作为我国国家领导人赠送给外国首脑礼品。国内和日本、新加坡出版了《秦锡麟陶瓷艺术作品选集》、《秦锡麟陶艺作品集》、《秦锡麟陶瓷艺术》画册和《秦锡麟陶瓷艺术文集》。在日本本、美国、加拿大、新加坡、韩国、印度尼西亚、澳大利亚、香港、澳门、台湾等国家和地区及国内五十多家报刊及三十多家国内外电台、电视台对他本人与作品作了高度评价和介绍，中央电视台“东方之子”栏目专题介绍了他。

1987 年被授予“国家级有突出贡献的专家”。
1988 年被授予“中国工艺美术大师”称号。
1991 年经国务院批准享受“政府特殊津贴”，并连续当选为第七届、第八届、第十届全国人大代表。
