韩敏，浙江杭州人。1929年出生，幼承庭训，耽心翰墨。曾任上海人民美术出版社创作员，从事连环画、年画创作，上海市第九届政协委员，上海书画研究院院长。现为中国美术家协会委员、上海市美术家协会理事、上海文史馆馆员。作品多次参加国内外重大展览，先後赴新加坡、澳门等地举办个人画展，影响广泛。1952年起在上海人民美术出版社从事连环画创作。擅长连环画，作品《郑板桥》参加第六届全国美展。
孩提时代，他随父母从西子湖畔的杭州迁至沪上的泰安路，那时此处还是城乡结合处，有青青的田野，潺潺的小河及篱笆墙上爬满牵牛花的农家小院，在从父学画之余，这片田园可是他童年时的乐园，抓蝈蝈、掏雀窝、捕蟋蟀、粘知了。而今一个多甲子过去了，朝花夕拾，童心不泯的他将这儿时记忆中的花鸟草虫再现于腕底笔端，为当代艺苑奉献了一本洋溢着浓郁生活气息和独特的生命感悟的《韩敏花鸟草虫集》（上海书画出版社）。已年届七十又七的韩敏先生又有返朴归真、重回田园之意；他长期寓居于海上千年古刹龙华寺的一隅“塔影院”，日有翠竹蕉叶小鸟啼，夜有青灯黄卷诵经声，可谓是“结庐在人境，而无车马喧”。使他能超然于尘嚣俗事而专心致力于翰墨丹青，正是在这种“心远地自偏”的幽逸清寂的环境中，他所创作的这批花鸟草虫画，一如他的人物画那样，依然保持了华润、精致、典雅、诗化的笔墨追求和艺术品位，使人可赏、可读、可品。
正是凭借着深厚的生活底蕴和精湛的造型能力，韩先生的花鸟草虫画构图饱满和谐而疏密自如，具有一种勃发清新的田园氛围，其红花绿叶或奇木秀石大都以阔笔挥洒，水墨晕染，重彩敷色，因而显得气势豪放而气韵雄浑，气息畅达而气格爽健，如国色天香的牡丹、娇艳妩媚的芍药、清香飘逸的兰花、绿叶纷披的修篁、格高韵清的荷花、疏影横斜的老梅等，充分展示了国画大写意的艺术表现力，突出了其笔墨形态意趣和色彩变幻效果，从中可见他对青藤、八大、板桥、苦铁、伯年等人画风的继传与开拓。

韩先生所画的鸟虫则十分精致、精微而精到，大都采用了一丝不苟的工笔勾勒，达到了惟妙惟肖、栩栩如生的境界，深得白石老人神韵。如他画的螳螂、蜻蜓、蟋蟀等纤毫毕现，形态生动逼真，特别是知了羽翼上细细的纹线、头部上的黑色折光等都——一画出，可见功力造诣之深厚。记得笔者在年前的一篇文章中谈到韩先生能在一粒米上写10个字，韩先生读后想此功久没练矣，随后特地找了一粒米在上面书写，然后欣喜地告诉我说：此功没废，至今老夫依然能写10字矣。韩先生画的鸟类姿态灵动、形神相畅，注重于头部的精心勾画，因而极富情性。如翠鸟、竹雀、鹌鹑、飞燕、鹦鹉等造型生动、动感强烈，散发出郁勃的生命气韵。今岁时逢乙酉鸡年，韩先生此本画集的开卷压卷之作均为雄鸡，雄姿英发，气宇轩昂。从大红的鸡冠到金色的羽毛，都缜密勾勒，神采盎然，背衬以青翠的修竹，一派清新的阳刚之气扑面而来。韩先生熟谙诗文，有着良好的文学修养，且擅长板桥六分半书，笔墨秀雅俊逸。在这本花鸟草虫集中，每一幅画都精心配置了古典诗文，从而增强了画面的内涵意境，如《知了墨竹》图上题诗曰：“邻家种新竹，时复过墙来。一片青葱色，居然为我栽。”从而使尺幅丹青弥散出浓郁的诗情，提升增强了作品的美学内涵，使画、诗、书相得益彰，令人味之无极，诚如古人所云：“腹有诗书气自华。”
韩敏连环画代表作有《郑板桥》、《黄冈竹楼记》、《紧急货物》。《郑板桥》参加1984年由文化部和中国美术家协会联合主办了“第六届全国美展"，《紧急货物》参加上海首届架上展览会....
