刘金涛(1922.5—)河北枣强人。擅长中国画装裱。1934年在北京琉璃厂裱画店学徒，1946年开设金涛斋裱画店装裱字画，1958年入荣宝斋，1960年入中央工艺美术学院裱画，曾为齐白石、徐悲鸿、田世光、蒋兆和、叶浅予等重要作品进行装裱。
在京城上世纪60年代建的一幢居民楼里，有一套昏暗、家具简陋的两居室，住着一位不寻常的耄耋老人。当他从茶叶筒里掏出钥匙，打开柜门取出个纸包，小心翼翼地揭开里三层外三层的纸，拿出个扇子展开时，你能看到扇面上画着一对寿桃，落款赫然是：“金涛老弟属，九十三岁白石老人。”
“齐老师像我父亲一样，”老爷子睹物思人，至今念念不忘齐白石对他的叮嘱，“金涛啊，不要做裱画商人，要做裱画艺人。”提起这位装裱泰斗刘金涛，书画界几乎无人不知。他曾装裱过悬挂在人民大会堂的24米长巨幅国画《江山如此多娇》、齐白石赠毛泽东的《松鹰图》、邓小平赠日本天皇的《百驴图》、国家领导人赠尼克松的《鹰图》……张大千、齐白石、徐悲鸿、蒋兆和、李苦禅、李可染、黄胄、吴作人、黄永玉等著名画家的作品，几乎都由他装裱。刘金涛6岁丧母，11岁时从老家河北枣强进京学徒，没盘缠，走了7天7夜。进城后流浪数日，才被老乡引荐到琉璃厂的“宝华斋”学裱画。“白天围着案子转，晚上睡凉炕。”刘金涛这样回忆当学徒的苦。除了管饭，掌柜分文不给，来裱画的画家看学徒可怜，常以画相赠。“张八爷（张大千）见我冬天没衣裳，就画张画，叫我去当铺当，当了两块钱，买件棉袄穿。”心灵手巧的刘金涛，在“宝华斋”苦熬10年，虽然离开时只挣得一卷麻袋片，但却掌握了装裱、揭裱字画的绝活。画中缺一块，他能不露痕迹地补上，多一块墨迹，他可将它“飞走”，还能把画的某部分“搬家”。他曾装裱一幅唐代吴道子画的《八十七神仙卷》。这幅千年古画破损甚多，污垢累累，画上侍女面容近乎包公。他用棉绒仔细贴在侍女脸上，然后泼上酒至棉绒湿透，点燃，拭去绒灰后，侍女顿时面若桃花。1946年，刘金涛在一家店铺的门道里开起小裱画铺。最困难时幸遇北平艺专校长徐悲鸿，他为徐悲鸿装裱了名作《愚公移山》和《九方皋》。徐悲鸿对他的手艺大加赞赏，并向齐白石推荐：“以后的画都请刘师傅装裱。”“您信得过的人，我也信得过。”从此，齐白石不仅请他装裱画，还托他采买，订席，陪看戏，视同家人，临终前一天还把未了心事托付他办。徐悲鸿看刘金涛的店铺狭小，遂请齐白石、叶浅予、李可染、李苦禅、田世光、蒋兆和等著名画家吃饭，提出每人至少画3幅画，凑齐后开画展，收入归刘金涛开店，并亲拟新闻稿、发请柬。画展3天之内几十幅画被抢购一空。后来刘金涛在琉璃厂找到一家大店面，徐悲鸿又亲题匾额“金涛斋裱画”，落款为：“江南贫侠徐悲鸿。”刘金涛既是装裱高手，为人处事又谦和，除了画家，老舍、朱德、胡适、郭沫若、沈从文、冰心等名人，也慕名请他装裱字画，其中最令他难忘的是老舍。“老舍先生真是好人啊。”刘金涛回忆说。1951年，在吴祖光和新凤霞的婚宴上，徐悲鸿、梅兰芳等京城名人都在场。齐白石举杯说：“请大家为老舍先生干一杯。”老舍慢慢站起身，举起杯大声说：“谢谢白石先生盛情，不过，先请诸位为我们的装裱大师刘金涛干一杯。”说罢，一饮而尽。“金涛裱师艺坛无名英雄。俗话说，三分画，七分裱。金涛占够天下七分而世人不知也。”这是黄永玉在刘金涛60岁生日时，为其画的祝寿像上题字。和刘金涛称兄道弟几十年，黄永玉为他画过十余幅像。画家们赞叹刘金涛的艺技，更看中他勤奋、忠厚、守信的人品。徐悲鸿曾在北平解放那天，为他画了幅牛图，上面有吴作人的题字“甘为孺子牛”。韩美林也为他画过幅牛图，题字“金涛一生牛”。刘金涛裱画常不收钱，画家们多以作品相赠，导致他收藏的名人字画，足以开个大型画展。不少亲友劝他把这些价值连城的收藏拍卖，但他视画如命：“卖了不行，卖了就把朋友卖了。”自打从中央工艺美院书画装裱室退休后，刘金涛忙活着应邀去广东、辽宁、山东、香港、加拿大等地，讲课和装裱字画。眼下，87岁的老爷子虽走路颤颤巍巍的，但仍在家给朋友裱画。他家的墙上立着几块大板子，上面贴着裱完未晾干的画，一张画得裱几天。“裱画成迷，不裱不行。”裱了76年画的刘金涛乐呵呵地说。
