出生于陕西。毕业于西安美术学院，曾在中学，大学任教，1993年调西宁画院任常务副院长、院长，青海国画院院长，青海省美协副主席、名誉主席、艺术顾问。享受政府特殊津贴专家，国家一级美术师，中国美协会员。2000年作为重点高级人才引进厦门。
受传统文化熏陶，自幼染指丹青，毕业于西安美术学院，曾在中学，大学任教，93年调西宁画院任常务副院长，院长，青海国画院院长，省美协副主席---名誉主席---艺术顾问，享受政府特殊津贴专家。省中国画艺委会主任，青海.福建两省高级职称评委，国家一级美术师，中国美协会员，2000年作为重点高级人才引进厦门。[1]
师从国画大师石鲁、刘文西，作品多反映西部风土人情，画面追求大对比、大反差，笔墨大胆泼辣——形成了独有的个性风格。多次在国内外大展获奖，并为国内外学术机构收藏，其传略入编：《中国书画界领袖人物大辞典》、《全囩画院院长作品精选集》等四十余部典籍。
有千余幅作品及五十余篇专业论文发表于国内外报刊。
