杜为廉，1940年生于浙江省东阳市。原名杜为廉，号岭南居士、花城园丁，中国美术家协会会员、广东省书法家协会会员。现任广州大学美术学院教授、硕士生导师。任新疆兵团教育学院（兵团师专）美术系主任、兵团美术教育协会主席、浙江师范大学艺术系中国画教研室主任、广州师范大学艺术系副主任.1993年阿万提教授公派赴美国西弗吉尼亚州贝尼斯学院讲学。1997年参加广州市政府文化艺术代表团访问韩国。1999年11月浙江省东阳横店建立阿万提艺术馆。电视专题片《幽默画家阿万提》先后在中央一台、二台、四台、九台播出，并送欧洲东方卫视(英国)、美国纽约电视台相继播出。阿万提教授研究海派吴昌硕花鸟画已五十多年，传统功力深厚，特别是他独创一格的新疆幽默人物画是现实主义精神的艺术表现，得到了国内外许多专家学者的高度评价。他把文人画的用线、民间绘画的造型、壁画的色彩、木版年画、皮影，剪纸的平面构成与东方的幽默情调有机地组合成为“阿万提风格”。阿万提创造的这种独特艺术语言，在中国画坛是唯一的，具有不可取代的地位，这必将在中华民族文化艺术长河中起到不可磨灭的影响。
阿万提教授是诗书画全方位关照的画家，而且都已经达到相当的高度。他八岁始学书法，从颜真卿开始，研究过米芾、王羲之、唐寅、黄庭坚、吴昌硕、刘海粟、沙孟海、陈大羽，形成了苍劲厚重的书风。阿万提十八岁初学绘画，他的启蒙老师袁连城先生是研究花鸟画的，一开始就告诉他，学习花鸟画一定要学习吴昌硕，所以他学习吴昌硕已有五十多年了，五十个年头的不懈探索，铸就了他在中国传统花鸟画上的深厚功力。深厚的传统功力加瑞以创新的精神造就了阿万提个性鲜明的新疆人物画风格。
