梅忠智，生于四川省阆中县。现为四川美术学院中国画系教授，硕士研究生导师，国家人事部中国书画人才专业委员会委员，中国美术家协会会员，重庆市中国画学会会长。

主要创作科研成果：
1985年以来，先后在重庆四川美术学院展览馆、成都四川美术展览馆、北京中国美术馆，日本仙台、大阪、东京、神户，美国休斯顿，北京清华大学美术学院、青岛市博物馆等地举办大型个人画展。
单幅作品参加由中国文化部、中国文联、中国美协主办的大型画展。
“中国—日本美术交流展银奖”（中日美术交流协会）；
“国画家奖”（中国美协国画艺委会）；
“当代中国画杰出人才奖”（国家人事部书画人才专业委员会）；
“第二届中国美术金彩奖国画优秀奖”（中国文联中国美协）；
主要论文有“中国花鸟画艺术古今谈”、“中国画小品的艺术魅力”、“90年代的花鸟画艺术”、“现代日本画的困惑”、“花鸟画的意境美研究”、“日本浮世绘的艺术魅力”等。
主要编著和专著有《当代花鸟画》、《20世纪花鸟画艺术论文集》、《日本浮世绘精品》《、梅忠智中国画选》、《梅忠智现代花鸟画艺术》、《写意鸡画法》等。

1982年本科毕业于西南师范学院美术与汉语言文学系，1982年考入该系中国画硕士研究生，1985年毕业并调入四川美术学院绘画系。
