吴玉亮，1964年生，天津武清人。1990年先后毕业于天津美术学院及天津美院首届在职中国画硕士研究生班，主攻中国现代工笔人物，师从颜宝臻、何家英、李永文等先生。现任天津美术学院中国画教授、中国美术家协会会员、中国当代工笔画学会会员、中国书法美术家协会理事、中国画艺术委员会委员、中国美术创作研究院中国画学术委员、亚洲艺术科学院院士、《中国美术》、《亚洲艺术》杂志执行编委。
主要作品有《风儿告诉我》、《我那遥远的清平湾》、《塬上青秋》、《如歌岁月》、《青花》、《初梦人生》等。作品自1991年以来，多次参加中国文联、中国美协等单位组织的国家级重要美术作品展及巡回展、邀请展。作品先后在美国、英国、法国、德国、加拿大、瑞士、韩国、日本、香港、台湾等十佘个国家和地区展出，作品设色清新，构图独特，人物形象刻画生动，将现实主义和理想主义有机相结合，表现出强烈的东方风采，极具现代感和现代审美意识。画面庄重典雅、蕴意深刻，曾获海内外中国书画艺术专项大展特等奖2次，金奖7次，银奖12次，铜奖2次，优秀奖多次，多件作品先后被国内外相关艺术机构收藏。《美术》、《中国美术》、《东方美术》、《北方美术》、《中国书画报》、《艺术教育》、《艺术焦点》、《亚洲艺术》等专业美术报刊、杂志均有作品刊载、介绍，作品先后收录《天津美术作品集》、《全国首届中国画作品集》、《全国首届中国画人物作品集》、《亚洲美术作品集》、《中国高等美术学院工笔画赏析》、《水墨中国》、《中国画坛100精英作品集》、《中国现代美术大系》等100余部大型美术文集。2004年获天津市优秀青年美术家称号，同年被中国文化部评为中国最具实力书画家称号，2005年获中国艺术市场最具影响力画家提名奖并赴台湾参加2005年当代著名书画家精品年展并于台北故宫博物院、台湾大学艺术系等参观访问、交流、讲学。
2006年随河南省美术家代表团赴马来西亚首都吉隆坡参加2006年第三届亚洲新意美术交流展，同年获亚洲艺术科学院学术委员会颁发的2006年度中国画坛创作杰出贡献奖，2007年获文化部颁发的中国美术创作最高成就奖金鹰奖及2007年国际文化奖。
现出版有《吴玉亮中国工笔人物画教学技法》、《吴玉亮工笔人体画教学技法》、《吴玉亮中国人物画选》、《吴玉亮作品选》、《中国美术--吴玉亮作品专刊》、《教您学工笔画》、《中国画坛九十家--吴玉亮》、《吴玉亮工笔重彩人物画技法》等多部专著。
