邓子平先生，海南人，1986年毕业于广州美术学院教育系，本科毕业，2000年在北京首都师范大学参加全国中学骨干教师“园丁班”学习。现任广东省人民政府文史馆画院画家、广东省人民政府督学、国际艺术教育学会会员、中国美术家协会广东分会会员、华南师范大学附属中学特级美术教师、华南师大附中学术委员、华南师范大学附属中学番禺学校督导员。2000年被国家教育部授予“全国学校艺术教育工作先进个人”的光荣称号。
“近年来，邓子平先生把巨大的热情投入到艺术创作中去”，创作了一批反映南国水乡风光和南海渔民生活的国画作品，作品多次参加全国、省及出国的各种美展，在国外、国内各种报刊上发表作品。多张作品被国内外收藏家收藏。此外还举办过个人画展，作品编辑成《邓子平画选》等个人画册出版。同时，邓子平先生还曾任广东《义务教育课程标准实验教科书全日制中学美术课本》副主编；海南《九年制义务教育全日制中学美术课本》副主编；广东基础教育“十五”课题《在网络环境下中学美术教学评价研究》的主持人。
邓子平先生的作品，多以渔民生活为表现主体，海南岛四面沿岸的渔民生活及特色常常在他的画面上出现。邓子平先生作画豪迈且干净利落，作品额外流露出一份现代感，而且设色大胆，常在色块和色阶中表现个人的情感，令画面构图层次分明，色彩饱和厚重从而打动观者，被评论家评价为节拍新奇的现代曲。

二〇〇六年赴葡萄牙参加国际艺术教育学会年会并在大会上宣读论文。
