吴同椿，男，1949年5月出生于南京市。现为中国美术家协会会员，国家一级美术师，高级科普师，江苏省国画院特聘画家。现任江苏省科普美术家协会副理事长兼秘书长，中国科普作家协会常务理事、科学美术专业委员会副主任。自幼练书、习画，二十世纪七十年代始，陆续出版《巧渡金沙江》等十余册连环画。
八十年代始，就学深造于南京艺术学院美术系和中央工艺美术学院装饰艺术系。其作品多次参加省及全国性美术作品展览并赴美、日、新加坡等国展出或为收藏家购藏。中国画长卷《育种图》获全国第二届科普美术作品展览一等奖；《天工开物》获全国第三届科普美术作品展览二等奖；任编委和主要美术作者，创作绘制《世界科技发展史画库》于1997年获中央精神文明建设“五个一工程”第六届“入选作品奖”；星云美术作品《宇宙之花》获2004年“全国科学漫画、连环画、插图大展”银奖。中国画《西门豹治邺》参加由国际儒学联合会、中国美术家协会、中国历史博物馆等单位于1999年在中国美术馆举办的《纪念孔子诞辰2550周年全国美术作品展》，该作品编入画集、出版，被收藏；中国画《天工开物》入选中国美术家协会于2004年主办的《全国第二届中国人物画展——纪念蒋兆和诞辰一百周年》美术作品展览。该作品编入画集、出版。创作《山海经》中国画31幅，1996年由中国少儿出版社出版中国古典文学名著画册。2001年，中国科学院南京紫金山天文台等单位举办《吴同椿星云美术作品展览》。2002年，《球状星团》、《天空之眼》等12幅中国画作品，受特邀参加天津市首届《艺术与科学》美术作品展览。2004年，20幅星云美术作品应邀参加北京天文馆新馆落成典礼暨首届中国太空美术作品展览。绘画《恒星诞生》为北京天文馆收藏的首件太空美术作品。2006年，《太阳的激情》等5幅作品参加2006江苏省“艺术与科学”美术作品展览。2001年，应邀参加北京“艺术与科学”国际学术研讨会，《迎接21世纪的科学美术》入选“艺术与科学”国际学术研讨会论文集。2004年，论文《思考“科学美术”创新》入选2004年中国科协学术年会论文集。始终追求艺术与科学思想交融。其艺术经历编入《中国现代美术家人名大辞典》、《中国当代美术家人名录》。
