董义方，自署青山白云楼主。1925年出生于河北遵化。中国画山水画家、美学家。中国美术家协会会员，中华全国美学学会会员。1945年毕业于北平艺术专科学校绘画系，继入辅仁大学美术系习水彩画。1946年后任教于北平临时大学、通州女子师范学校。1949年后历任大连医学院绘画股股长。1954年至1959年任大连工学院绘画讲师，大连市第一届、第二届政协委员，1958年至1959年任中国美协辽宁分会理事。1959年调河南支援郑州大学，1982年任河南省美协理事。1984年调回大连，任辽宁师范大学教授。董义方1940年于北平拜秦仲文为师，经介绍入故宫三殿国画学习班临摹古画，并听取黄宾虹的理论讲授，打下了传统绘画基础。1942年考入北平国立艺专油画科。1945年毕业后，继在辅仁大学进修水彩画半年，掌握了西画技巧。学生时期，油画写生《中南海荷花》入选“北平画展”。董义方1946年初参加工作，一直从事美术教育。解放后，开始中国画创作，在传统国画技法中汲取西画营养。处女作《潮水落下去的傍晚》入选“第二届全国美展”，在京展出后引起美术界轰动。因其对国画创新起了带动影响，广受好评。作品由文化部收藏。人民美术出版社出版画页画片，外文出版社出版的《中国现代中国画集》录入，用5种文字发行。此后，董义方进行了全国名山大川的旅行写生，多幅写生画由辽宁美术出版社出版，多种报刊发表。其中在广西桂林的写生画由广西出版社选入《桂林山水画集》。《美术》月刊1957年3月号发表其理论文章《试论中国画的特点》，首次提出中国画以“线”为造型基础的观点，引起全国性讨论，影响很大。1958年在《美术研究》季刊发表论文《建立中国画素描教学体系》。20世纪60年代初创作大幅黄山山水画《巍然巨人》，入选“中国首届赴欧美4国巡展”。
