陈雄立，生于北京。1956年参加以齐白石为会长的北京中国画研究会，为李苦禅大师入室弟子。1980年-1989年于中央民族学院艺术系任教。1987年赴澳大利亚举办个展。1989年赴美国，参与田纳西州孟菲斯市国际文化遗产节，获赠孟菲斯市荣誉公民证书，又获加州政府及圣伯纳丁诺市颁发的文化荣誉状。1996年为美国电话公司绘制《三国演义人物电话卡》。其巨作《丝路盛会图》（200cm×800cm）描绘了公元609年隋炀帝开发河西，经营西域，亲驾武威、张掖，万民相迎，胡商及各国使节等人物歌舞欢庆的盛大场面。
现为美国国际美术家协会副会长、中国美术家协会会员、湖社画会名誉会长、北京紫禁城书画艺术协会副会长、美国中国书画史研究会副会长、中国西南交通大学艺术系终身客座教授、李可染基金会顾问。
著作有《画鹿技法》、《画鹿》、《陈雄立画集》、《雄立新作选》、《写意花鸟概说》等。其业绩载入《我爱中华》、《北美华裔名人录》（英文版）、《美国加州华裔名人列传》、《美梦成真》、《圆一场美国梦》、《画坛名家》等专著。
