雪岛，原名何时俊。他出生于著名文化之乡浙江东阳，幼受庭训钟情于国画，7岁开始作画，用半年时间将一套《三国演义》连环画临摹下来，19岁考入广州美院，专攻国画。此后，他在当今岭南画派扛鼎人物杨之光和台湾艺术大师刘国松两位教授的悉心指点下，对传统的国画笔墨功夫进行大胆创新，使自己的艺术风格发生新的飞跃。
在此期间，雪岛作品先后为法国总统密斯特，英女王伊丽莎白二世，国际奥委会主席萨马兰奇等许多世界风云人物所收藏，并受到许多国家元首的赞赏。《浙江日报》曾在95年10月14日刊登《为国际名人画像》的专题文章介绍雪岛的艺术创作。他在95年至98年出任浙江横店集团书画院院长，现为中国美术家协会会员，福建省美术家协会理事，香港南益集团艺术总监。
雪岛在2007年当选为福建省文联第六次文代会代表，2008年当选为福建省美协第六次美代会代表。2009年任福建省第六届工笔画大展评委。作品分别获得福建省人民政府颁发的第五届最高文艺奖，泉州市人民政府颁发的第二、四、五届最高奖。而他的作品《寒林》获五年一届的第三届全国中国画最高奖，并被中国美术馆收藏。其作品《水木清华》获2007年全国漆画展最高奖---凤凰奖。《金塘丽影》入选五年一届的第十一届全国美展。
在2009年7月，雪岛应台湾海峡两岸文化交流基金会邀请赴台举办书画展。受到台湾立法院资深委员许荣淑、及台湾艺术界人士的热情接待。
