字昊天.号清瘦人.生于山东菏泽，现为世界华人书画院院长、中国书画艺术人才研究会会长。他自幼酷爱绘画，视艺术为生命，历艰辛而不渝，作品与其升沉，终登艺术殿堂。
一九八二年毕业于山东轻工美术学校，一九八三年调入文化部外文局中国报道杂志社任美术编辑。一九八五年世界科技博览会特邀展出他的《劲竹图》，受到友人的赞赏。中央电视台先后为他拍摄了专题记录片《天高任鸟飞》《吴东魁绘画艺术》《吴东魁笔墨技法》《李宁和他的国画老师吴东魁》。山东电视台录制的《吴东魁画展巡礼》被译成六种文字在国内外播放，影响颇深。
他的个人画展先后在陕西、山东、河南、广东及首都博物馆、中国美术馆举办，轰动整个美术界。境外曾在美国、加拿大，新加坡、韩国、日本、香港、台湾等……先后举办个人画展和大陆名家展。国内外各大报刊发表他的作品和评介文章逾千篇，中国报告文学以几万字之巨介绍他的成长之路。于一九九0年五月在中国美术馆一楼大厅举办了个人画展，国家有关领导、美术界知名人士光临开幕式，中国中央电视台新闻联播时况播放开幕盛况及专题报道。
