陈子，1960年12月出生于新疆，福建惠安人，1983年—1985年先后在山东艺术学院美术系、北京首都师范大学美术系进修，2002年结业于中央美术学院重彩高研班，现为中国美术家协会会员，福建省画院专职画家，国家一级美术师。收藏单位：中国美术馆（两件）、江苏省美术馆、福建省美术馆、浙江省美术馆出版及发表：《中国工笔画1900-1977》、《中国当代美术1979-1997》、《中国工笔画全集》、《当代中国画精品人物卷》、《现代重彩画技巧-陈子》、《当代工笔画唯美新势力-陈子-工笔人物精品集》《国画家》、《画廊》、《美术》、《艺术界》等。

福建省著名女画家陈子画展在榕举办。此次展出的主题是“花语·逝言·乡音”，集中了陈子近三年来创作的30多幅艺术精品。陈子是福建惠安人，先后于山东艺术学院、北京首都师范大学、中央美术学院学习或进修，现为中国美术家协会会员。她的重彩工笔人物画作品先后入选过十多次国家级大展，其独特的艺术感觉和女性视角为评论界所关注。与以往画家自费举办个展不同的是，此次陈子个展是由福建省圣东方艺术画廊承办，这也是福建省首次由艺术中介机构举办的本省籍知名画家个展，标志着福建艺术创作与市场结合正步入新轨道。

在艺术界，北京798是个人尽皆知的“名地”，女画家陈子的个人工作室就坐落在它的附近。
见到陈子的时候，她正在准备参加第11届全国美展的作品。这项源于1949年、五年一度的展览可以说是目前中国美术界级别最高，权威性、综合性、影响性最广的美术大展了。眼下，陈子正在紧锣密鼓地准备将作品送去参加严格的层层选拔。
“惠安女”画惠安女
陈子出生于新疆，但她的祖籍却是福建惠安。在惠安县惠东半岛的海边，居住着一个很特殊的族群，这就是惠安女。自古以来，惠安女就是个沉重的话题。她们穿着美丽的服饰，却受到古老习俗和生活的重压；她们以矮小柔弱的身躯，担负着种田犁地、敬奉公婆、哺育子女的重担；她们新婚后三天就要回到娘家长住，一年中只有三次与丈夫团聚的时候，只有生了孩子以后，才能名正言顺地进入婆家；她们肩上承受着比男人沉重的压力……由于这些传统习俗的桎梏，从前惠安女的日子相当痛苦，常有承受不住的惠安女相约跳海自尽，酿成了无数人间悲剧，直到改革开放以来，社会大环境变了，这种情况才有所好转。
走上绘画之路后，陈子经常回到惠安采风。每次踏上惠安的土地，看到那些美丽而贤惠的妇女，想到从前的她们，陈子都不由得发出阵阵感叹。她说，面对这些伟大的女性，她唯一能做的就是用心去感受并表达这个特殊族群的美丽。

Chen Zi was born in Xinjiang, but her ancestral home is in Fujian Huian. Huian County in Huidong peninsula on the beach, living a very special ethnic groups, which is Huian female. They wear beautiful costumes, but by the ancient customs and the burden of life; with their little weak body, responsible for farming ploughing, worship in laws, the burden of feeding the children; they married three days after returning to their parents to live with her husband only three times of the year, only after the birth of a child.
