华夏

华夏，原名程珊。1923年生，汉族，中共党员。江西铅山人。
1942年九江中家毕业后.在江西、重庆大学土木工程系学习三年，重庆、北平“国立艺专”西画系学习两年。1947年赴解放区，任冀察热辽联大鲁艺美术系副主任。历任中南文工团美术部副主任，中南文艺出版社美编室主任，湖北人民出版社副社长兼美编室主任；中国美术家协会《美术》杂志社编辑部主任，中国美术家协会第三、四届理事；中国艺术研究院美术研究所现代美术研究室主任，兼《美术史论》、《中国美术通史》和《美育丛书》副主编，《中国大百科全书近现代美术卷》主编。工作过程中，虽不能把精力、时间主要用于作画卜但只要工余之暇有极少的一点时何也如饥似渴地要画上几笔。
1987年离休。1990至1995年聘任为《美术》杂志社主编兼社长。
2004年由中国美术家协会授予“卓有成就的美术史论家”称号，
2009年获中国文联颁发的“第八届造型表演艺术成就奖”。
出版有《形象化的能手》《当代美术片论》《美术评论及其他》等。
