李广平生于山东平原，现为曲阜师范大学美术学院副教授、副院长，硕士研究生导师泰山山水画研究院院长，《美术教育研究》副主编。1990年至1991年修业于中央美院人物画室，多次在全国各种形式的大展及大赛中获奖。近年来两次应邀赴欧洲讲学、办展。有个人画展展出与中国北京、上海、广州。欧洲比利时根特、安特卫普、法国巴黎、德国慕尼黑、荷兰阿姆斯特丹等地。比利时安特卫普皇家博物馆、马未都先生个人博物馆都有收藏。
2003年被《今日中国美术》、《艺术状态》编辑部联合推出为“60年代出生最优秀的20名中国水墨人物画家”之一。2005年《中国美术》丛书第二辑，以画家李广平先生的近照作为封面出版发行，这是山东籍的画家首次登上这本丛书的封面。
