梁守义（1932～2003），男，山西省临猗县城关镇贵戚坊村人，1949年2月在山西临汾西北人民艺术学校学习，同年6月调到晋绥军区文工队，任文工队员。1950年1月调到西北青年文艺工作团，任文工团员。同年7月调到志愿军一军二师政治部文工队，任宣传员。1953年12月到志愿军一军二师教导营工作。1954年7月调到一军二师文化科，任图书管理员。1958年转业到青海，次年入党，先后在青海人民出版社、青海省西宁师范学校、青海画报社、青海省展览办公室、省美协等单位工作。1971年调到青海省群众文化工作站（今青海省文化馆）。1985年3月离休，2003年10月病逝，享年71岁。
梁守义于1952年底随军参加抗美援朝，常常在战火硝烟中，跋山涉水，冒着敌人飞机的扫射，去作战前线收集英雄事迹素材。常常是身背两块小木板，一手拿枪，一手握着木刻刀，坚持边战斗边创作。他创作的版画有《村边》、《支前》、《亲如一家》、《罗盛教河的冬天》、《志愿军帮助我们搞春耕》等。这些作品在战火中仓促刻成，但在立意、刀法、色彩等方面，均达到很高水平，不失为成功之作。作品在当年的《志愿军报》和国内一些报刊发表后，产生了广泛的影响，因此他被《志愿军报》聘为特约通讯员。
在青海近30年的岁月里，梁守义一直致力于美术创作。他发表过《霓虹灯下的哨兵》、《绿原红旗》，年画《草原幼儿园》、《报喜队》，国画《马背小学》等，但更多的以版画作品见长。为了深入生活，他几乎走遍了青海的山山水水，从祁连山到巴颜喀拉山，从三江源头到青海湖边，从河湟谷地到柴达木盆地，到处留下了他的足迹。植根于生活的沃土，使他的版画艺术之花开放得更加艳丽。从1961年到1986年，他先后在《青海日报》、《青海藏文报》、《宁夏日报》、《甘肃日报》、《青海画报》、《青海湖》等报刊发表了《人间正道是沧桑》、《胡耀邦总书记在青海》、《歌唱我们亲爱的党》、《高山公路》、《塔尔寺物资交流会》、《欢乐的草原》、《草原建设者》、《高原峡谷》、《撒拉族之乡》、《山乡小溪》、《土乡七月》、《柴达木之歌》、《鸟岛仲夏》、《牧场之夏》、《山庄金秋》、《草原上的婚礼》、《艳秋八月》、《冬羔》、《暮归》、《歇》等大量版画作品。
梁守义的作品，不但题材广泛，紧扣时代主题，而且贴近群众生活，厚重朴实，极富生活气息。从高原的社会主义建设，到青海民间的六月六花儿会、塔尔寺庙会、草原赛马会、民族婚礼等，在他的作品中均有生动表现。梁守义的艺术表现手法，形式多样，不拘一格，有油印的，也有水印的；有素描式的黑白对比，也有工笔国画中的单线勾画；有素雅的单色木刻，也有色彩绚烂、多色渲染的套色版画。刀法上，既有粗犷质朴的，也有细腻秀丽的，只要是主题需要，各种手法都广为采用，因此，他的作品表现力和感染力都很强。
梁守义的作品不但在国内产生了一定的影响，在国家举办的历届版画展览中，也多次被送到国外展出。如《等车》到罗马尼亚展出，《暮归》赴澳大利亚展出，《鸟岛仲夏》赴日本展出，《撒拉族之乡》到坦桑尼亚、加纳等非洲六国展出。《人间正道是沧桑》被毛主席纪念堂收藏，《欢乐的草原》被中国美术馆收藏。由于他多年对中国版画所做出的贡献，1996年，荣幸地获得了中国版画的最高奖——“鲁迅版画奖”。
梁守义不仅是一位画家，而且是一位美术教育工作者。在西宁师范任教期间，培养了一大批美术工作者。调到省群艺馆后，一边搞美术创作，一边用更多的时间开展群众美术辅导工作，经常深入工厂、农村、牧区、部队搞培训，搞辅导，与广大美术爱好者打成一片，成为他们的良师益友，在梁守义和其他美术工作者的辛勤培育下，青海出现了一批土生土长的工人画家、农民画家、军人画家。
梁守义生前是中国美术家协会会员和中国版画家协会会员。
