刘金岩男蒙古族，１９６３年9月出生于内蒙古自治区乌兰浩特市，1991年毕业于鲁迅美术学院，现执教于内蒙古师范大学美术学院水彩画专业、副教授，中国美术家协会会员，内蒙古美术家协会理事。

２０００年水彩画作品《小雪初晴》获内蒙古自治区青年美展二等奖；
２００１年水彩画作品《遥远的达尔罕》在建党８０周年内蒙古自治区美展中被评为获奖作品；
２００２年水彩画作品《塬》在《纪念毛泽东同志在延安文艺座谈会上的讲话》发表６０周年内蒙古自治区美展中获金奖。全国美展中获优秀作品奖。
２００２年水彩画作品《雪原》入选第六届全国水彩画·粉画展。
２００２年水彩画作品《大河上下》在内蒙古自治区首届水彩画·粉画展中获银奖。
２００３年水彩画作品《塬》获内蒙古自治区首届美术创作神马奖。
２００４年水彩画作品《光沐高原》入选“鲁艺”杯全国师范院校美术教师作品展。
