张举毅，一九三三年生。又名张举义。上海人。擅水彩画。1949年入上海美专，1954年毕业于中央美术学院华东分院。历任湖南大学建筑系讲师、副教授，湖南省美协五届副主席。现为湖南大学建筑学院教授，中国美术家协会会员，湖南省美术家协会副主席，中国水彩画家学会副会长，中国建筑学会建筑师分会建筑美术专业委员会副主任，湖南省水彩画研究会会长。1993年起，享受国务院颁发的政府特殊津贴。作品入选第三届至第八届全国美展，第一至第四届全国水彩、粉画展1962年后，水彩画作品连续入选第三至第九届全国美展，其中第三、五、七届的入选作品《运煤》、《再建高炉》和《绿色大地》分别为湖南省博物馆、浙江自然博物馆和中国美术馆收藏，第九届的入选作品《塔林晨光》获铜奖。1982年至今，水彩画作品先后在扎伊尔、刚果、科威特、菲律宾、新加坡、日本、韩国、美国诸国家和香港、台湾地区展出。
1985年后，先后出版画册《张举毅水彩画选》两种，出版了《水彩静物画技法》、《钢笔速写与钢笔淡彩》、《建筑画表现法》等多种技法书，又主编出版了两种《建筑画》（全国建筑院校试用教材），另参编了《水彩》（全国建筑绘院校试用教材）。
1993年起，享受国务院颁发的政府特殊津贴。
