李茂林，1955年出生，湖北美术学院水彩本科毕业，美术特级教师，水彩画家，中国美术家协会会员，中国教育学会会员，湖北省美协会员，省美术教育专委会常务理事，湖北楚天画院院士，湖北开明画院常务理事，湖北青江画院院士，荆门市美术教育专业委员会理事长，市美术家协会常务副主席，市文联副秘书长，市老年书画家学会副会长，市楹联学会副会长，荆门市第六、七届政协委员，首届荆门名家，首届荆门名师，第三届市级教育学科带头人，市首届和第二届市级把关人才。
李茂林的绘画作品三次分别荣获文化部颁发的国家文艺大奖“全国群星奖”金奖、优秀奖，作品五次分别入选文化部、中国文联、中国美协举办的国家级和全国性美术大展，作品多次获得省政府、省文化厅等颁发的美术金奖、银奖、优秀奖，作品几次获得荆门市委、市政府等颁发的文艺金奖、和最高奖，近百幅作品入选国内外各种美展并被收藏，作品发表于《美术》、《水彩艺术》、《人民教育》、《中国美术教育》等国家顶尖级学术刊物和画集上。
李茂林曾赴欧洲多国艺术考察，并赴韩国参加亚西亚美术邀请展。在新华网主办的年度收藏人物评比中被评为“2013中国最受藏界关注的艺术家”，中央电视台《写意人生》栏目摄制并多次播放了《水彩画家李茂林》专题片，是北京、广州、武汉几家文化艺术机构的签约画家，广东电视台《收藏之声》栏目摄制并播放了《李茂林—水彩绘就高雅人生》专题片，另有省内外多种媒体曾几十次宣传报道过李茂林的人物专题。
