阎丽川，男，汉族，山西太原人，1910年生。中国美术家协会会员。二十年代后期就读于师范艺术科，三十年代考入国立杭州艺术专科学校，后转入上海新华艺术专科学校西画系，1934年毕业，先后在陕西、甘肃、山西等地从事美术教学工作兼攻书画，1954年执教于天津美术学院，1980年后专攻书法和国画。书法擅长行草，所作运笔老辣，古拙蕴藉。作品多次在国内外展出及在报刊发表，1981年和1985年先后在天津、太原等地举办个人书画展。精于美术史论，出版专著《中国美术史略》、《文物史话》等。亦擅国画。现为中国美术史学会理事，中国书法家协会天津分会名誉理事，中国美术家协会天津分会理事，天津市老年书画研究会理事，天津市文联委员，天津美术学院教授。
