谷溪一九四六年生，山东威海人。现为人民美术出版社编辑，中国书法家协会会员，中国书法家协会理事，北京书法家协会副主席，评审委员会主任。谷溪先生是著名的书画家、篆刻家。曾师承李苦禅、秦仲文、郭风惠、郑诵先等书画大师。他的书法深入商周金文和秦汉碑刻，并借鉴清代篆隶名家，追求强烈的金石韵味和鲜明的艺术个性。他的作品多次入选全国书展和国内外大型书展，并被陕西省博物馆、中南海、北京图书馆、澳门贾梅士博物馆、日本成田寺等处收藏。传略被收入《中国书法家名录》、《世界名人录》、《全国中青年名人辞典》、《中国美术年鉴》等辞书。到人民美术出版社工作的十余年间，他编辑出版了《齐白石精品集》、《石刻大观》等大型书画集。他编辑的《中国美术全集·书法篆刻编》获国家图书特别金奖。 谷溪先生努力追求字外功夫的修养，做到才出于学，器出于养，营造出自己的鲜明个性和文化品格。他在创作和编辑之余出版多部专著，有《治印艺术》、《汉碑及其写法》、《中国书法艺术·先秦卷》等。

Guxi was born in Weihai, Shandong Province in 1946. Mr. Guxi is a famous calligrapher, painter and seal carver. Zeng Shicheng is a master of Li Kuchan, Qin Zhongwen, Guo Fenghui and Zheng Chanxian. His calligraphy went deep into Jinwen of Shang and Zhou Dynasties and inscriptions of Qin and Han Dynasties, and drew lessons from famous seal writers of Qing Dynasty to pursue strong flavor of gold and stone and distinct artistic personality. His works have been selected for many national book exhibitions and large-scale book exhibitions at home and abroad, and have been collected by Shaanxi Museum, Zhongnanhai, Beijing Library, Macau James Museum and Narita Temple in Japan. The biography has been included in the Chinese Calligrapher List, the World Celebrity List, the National Dictionary of Young and Middle-aged Celebrities, and the Chinese Art Yearbook. During more than ten years of working in People's Fine Arts Publishing House, he edited and published such large collections of calligraphy and painting as Qi Baishi Collection of Excellent Works and Grand View of Stone Carvings. His edited Complete Works of Chinese Fine Arts, Calligraphy and Seal Carving, won the National Book Special Gold Prize. Mr. Guxi strives to pursue the cultivation of extra-literary skills, so that talent comes from learning and implement comes from cultivation, creating his own distinct personality and cultural character. In addition to his creation and editing, he published many monographs, such as The Art of Sealing, The Han Stele and Its Writing, Chinese Calligraphy Art, Pre-Qin Volume, etc.
