Simon was born in white haven, Cumberland, England in October or November 1775 Robert Solomon; he was named White haven on November 5, 1775. His father, Francis Solomon, was a jeweler. The young Sammon apparently studied the work of 17th century Italian painter Dutch marine painter vedute Hotel, and worked with Claude Lorraine, but no one else knew of his early training. His first known work, two armed merchant ships in Whitehaven, was at 1800 when "estridge" closed Dover; his first work on display at the Royal Academy of art was in 1802.

 

 

 

SAMON settled in 1806 in Liverpool's busy seaport and changed his name to salmon. Many of his early marine paintings survived and were housed in the National Maritime Museum in London. His ship portraits show that he had an intimate knowledge of sailboats and how they worked. These portraits often follow his tradition of showing at least two containers in the same location on the same canvas. In April, 1811 he moved from the Liverpool area of grenock, Scotland in October 1822, then back to Liverpool in 1826 he returned to grenock, and then he left London in 1827, shortly after which he went to Southampton, North Shields and Liverpool.

With many young artists, SAMON believes that his art future lay in America. Before he set out in 1828, the artist executed his only surviving portrait, the portrait of the pirate ship, John Paul Jones, a work very much part of the romantic spirit of his time. He believes that his Paul Jones "godlike" will form an indissoluble bond with the audience in his future home. He may not know if he has ever been to the United States, where the memory of America's biggest naval hero has disappeared in the public mind before effectively completing the painting.

Immigration to the United States and living in Bosto

In 1828, SAMON left Europe, the United States "New York" for the data package ship, arrived on New Year's day, and in 1829, he lived in a cabin overlooking Boston port at the ocean railway terminal, until 1840, when he prospered as an ocean painter and accepted the Commission painting portrait ship. Growing in Boston Harbor in the first half of this century, samondu harbor 300-400 painted in 17th century Dutch custom painting style. He is regarded as a queer, withdrawn, grumpy man.

Simon soon became one of the most prominent Boston seascape painters. In the years that followed, he was in William S. Pendleton, where he met a lithography studio that divided the time between painting and working in Bradford and Fitzhenry driveways. This contact between lane and salmon is highly valued by lane and becomes apparent in his marine landscape.

In his life, Simon's work was very popular, collected by Boston Samuel Cabot, Robert Bennett Forbes and John Cushing newmarch.

Old age

SAMON was believed to have left Boston shortly after he left there in 1842. Instead, he went back to Europe and Italy. Many thanks to his Italian views survive, the latest issue dates back to 1845, his last recording year. The actual date of his death remains unclear.
