1963年生于重庆,当代画家，1978年至1981年就读于四川美术学院附中，1981年至1988年就读于四川美术学院油画系并获油画专业硕士学位，现为四川美术学院院长、中国美术家协会副主席，重庆文联副主席、重庆美术家协会主席，重庆画院院长，重庆美术馆馆长，中国美术家协会油画艺委会副主任，中国油画学会理事，上海大学美术学院博士生导师，西安美术学院博士生导师。

多年来，他一直坚持探索古典油画语言在当代文化情境的表达与呈现，将个人的艺术创作熔铸在当下社会现实之中，他总是以凝视的视角来描述现实本身，原本静穆的古典画风也被他赋予了一种别样于日常的陌生感和距离感，而这样的艺术气质不仅仅代表着个人化风格的建构与完整，更能由此衍生出油画艺术在当代艺术中的价值和意义。作品多次参加国内外的艺术展览，并被海内外多个艺术机构以及私人收藏。代表作品有《苹果熟了》、《彩虹悄然当空》、《一个满地金黄的夏天》、《模糊系列》、《虚拟时光系列》、《巧合系列》、《光耀系列》、《游观系列》、《折叠的肖像》系列等。

庞茂琨的作品的最大特点是对人的关注，表现人的面貌，在人的面貌刻画中，表现人的精神世界。他的作品中的人物既是独立存在的客体，又是被画家感知了的，理念化和情绪化了的客体。他的艺术语言是古典的，而包含的精神却是现代的。

 1980年作品《畸》入选“中国青年美展四川分展”，获优秀奖。

1981年毕业于四川美术学院附中

1987年 作品参加纽约的“中国当代油画展”；上海的“首届中国油画展”。

 Born in Chongqing in 1963, a contemporary painter, from 1978 to 1981 in the attached middle school of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. From 1981 to 1988, he studied in the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and obtained a master's degree in Oil Painting. He is currently the president of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Vice-Chairman of China Artists Association, Vice-Chairman of Chongqing Federation of Arts, Chairman of Chongqing Artists Association, President of Chongqing Academy of Painting, Director of Chongqing Muse Deputy Director of Oil Painting Arts Committee of Artists Association, Director of China Oil Painting Society, Doctoral Tutor of Shanghai University Academy of Fine Arts, and Doctoral Tutor of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts.

Over the years, he has been insisting on exploring the expression and presentation of classical oil painting language in contemporary cultural context, casting his artistic creation into contemporary social reality. He always describes reality itself from the perspective of gaze. The original quiet style of classical painting has also been endowed with a sense of strangeness and distance different from everyday life, and such artistic temperament not only represents individualization. The construction and integrity of style can further derive the value and significance of oil painting in contemporary art. His works have participated in many art exhibitions at home and abroad, and have been collected by many art institutions and private collectors at home and abroad. His representative works include "Apple ripened", "Rainbow quietly in the sky", "A golden summer", "Fuzzy Series", "Virtual Time Series", "Coincidence Series", "Glorious Series", "Tour Series", "Folded Portrait" series and so on.

His works include ripe apples, Yang, Eternal Movement, Rainbow Silently in the Sky, Touch and so on.

The greatest feature of Pang Maoqin's works is to pay attention to people, to show people's faces, and to show people's spiritual world in the description of people's faces. The characters in his works are not only independent objects, but also idealistic and emotional objects perceived by painters. His artistic language is classical, but the spirit is modern.

In 1980, the work "Abnormal" was selected as "Sichuan Branch Exhibition of China Youth Art Exhibition" and won an excellent award.
