【赏析】：
铭文记叙了宣王十二年北伐玁狁大胜而归的一些事情。虢季子白因斩获颇丰而受赏铸器。所以铭文的书法风格有着强者的信心和喜悦，仿彿在与其铿锵有节的韵文形式相呼应。具体说来，则有下述感受。作品的字形结体很注意变化，但通篇气韵整肃划一，富于节奏感：它那肥厚凝重的线条在表现“多力丰筋者圣”的美感之余，还爲紧密字形起着积极的作用；它的笔力雄迈虬健，不流于形式，不病于生硬滞涩，具有书写的流动美感；它的布白疏阔至极，与字形对比，大有“海阔凭鱼跃，天高任鸟飞”的博大涵容；它那折挫屈曲的笔法和线条结构形式，与秦刻石鼓文表现出来的倔强意势颇多相通之处，由此入手，似乎可以寻绎出石鼓文书法风格的渊源和个性。简言之，《虢季子白盘》以其独特的风神，在中国书法史上留下了光辉的印记。
