意大利画家提香·韦切利奥的布面油画-天上的爱与人间的爱

 

《天上的爱与人间的爱》是意大利画家提香·韦切利奥于1514年创作的布面油画,现收藏于意大利罗马波尔葛塞美术馆。

画上两个象征着天上与人间的妇女似乎在谈心,她们的区别是:穿衣的代表人间的妇女,裸体的代表天上的女神。一右一左,向内倾的两位女性,形成对称的和谐组合,这是古典风范的主要特征。

画面左端,面目清秀、衣着白蓝色衣裙的少女是美狄亚。她坐在一个大理石水池边,表情略显得有些忧虑和顾忌,好像有什么心事。她的一只手抱扶着水池沿上的黑色瓷罐,瓷罐里放着光彩夺目的珍珠。裸露着丰润身材的爱神,大胆、随意地坐在右边的水池沿上,与矜持的美狄亚形成了鲜明的对比。她一头金黄色的头发飘在脑后,面向美狄亚,神情淡雅、闲适,好像正在说服美狄亚似的。她的左手托着一个小瓶,里面冒着青烟。在她们的中间,虎头虎脑的小爱神丘比特,正在嬉戏水池里的玫瑰花,一副心不在焉、悠然忘我的神态。这一侧面的背景是典型的意大利田园风光,越过近处枝叶繁密的小树,左边远方的古城堡和右边远方的湖泊以及中世纪的塔式教堂历所在目。似乎还是夕阳西照的时候,天地笼罩着夕阳的余晖,远天上流云飞渡,彩霞飘舞,圣洁而美丽。

创作背景

《天上的爱与人间的爱》取材于希腊神话中的一则故事:为夺回被叔父霸占的王位,伊阿宋要去阿尔喀斯夺取天神的圣物金羊毛。爱神阿弗洛迪忒使阿尔喀斯的公主美狄亚对英雄伊阿宋一见倾心。该画作就表现了爱神正劝说美狄亚,要她帮助伊阿宋夺取金羊毛的情景。

艺术鉴赏

作者简介

提香·韦切利奥(1490~1576),生于意大利的卡多列,是威尼斯文艺复兴时期的画家。早年曾赴威尼斯学艺,与画家乔尔乔内是师兄弟,早期曾多有合作,深受乔尔乔内风格的影响。乔尔乔内去世后,他成为了威尼斯画派的领军人物。他的绘画风格和用色技巧对西欧各国绘画艺术的发展都产生了深远的影响。他的作品很多,代表作有《天上的爱与人间的爱》、《圣母升天》、《基督下葬》、《酒神祭》等。

"Love in heaven and love in earth" is a oil on canvas created by Italian painter titian vechelio in 1514, which is now collected in bolgasse art museum in Rome, Italy.

Painting on two symbols of heaven and earth women seem to talk, their differences are: dressed on behalf of the earth's women, naked on behalf of the goddess of heaven. Two women, one right, one left, leaning inward, form a symmetrical and harmonious combination, which is the main characteristic of classical demeanor.

At the left end of the picture, the girl in white and blue dress is Medea. She was sitting by a marble sink with a slightly worried, scruffy expression, as if something were bothering her. One of her hands held the black China pot on the edge of the sink, its glittering pearls. The naked goddess of love, with her plump figure, sits boldly and casually on the edge of the pool on the right, in sharp contrast to the reserved Medea. She had blond hair behind her head and was facing Medea with a quiet, relaxed look, as if she were trying to persuade her. In her left hand was a small, smoking bottle. In the midst of them, Cupid, the headstrong and headless Cupid, was playing among the roses in the pool, with an absent, self-absorbed air. The creation background

"Love in heaven and love in earth" is based on a story in Greek mythology: in order to regain the throne occupied by his uncle, Jason would go to arcaeus to seize the sacred golden fleece of the god of heaven. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, made Medea, the princess of arcaeus, fall in love with Jason, the hero. The painting shows love persuading Medea to help Jason capture the golden fleece.

Art appreciation

 

Opinions vary as to what the picture means. Some people believe that Medea in the painting represents secular love, which, like the pearls she holds in her hands, is extremely luxurious but eventually turns into nothingness. And Aphrodite represents the divine love of god, as passionate and eternal as the smoke from her vial. Some people also think that the picture expresses the naked avodete persuading Medea to elope with the Greek hero Jason, which expresses the painter's yearning and praise for the free love in the world, as well as the resistance to medieval asceticism. Another theory holds that this painting is a gift from the painter to his newly married friends. The woman in the picture is the bride, which expresses the painter's sincere blessing to his friends, implying that they can not only grasp the earthly love, but also maintain the sacred love in the soul.

The artist's brilliant use of colour is vividly shown in this painting.
